Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role works closely with internal departments to provide accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial transactions and research discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing requested documentation.
  • Monitor fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate outstanding items.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency.
  • Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and audit support.
